new nueMinutes Architecture

by no2chem 30. December 2008 14:58

Drawing1

So the new nueMinutes architecture will look like the diagram to the right, with data processing offloaded to the nueROM server, reducing the amount of time to get an update and the number of client-side updates required. Unfortunately this does mean my server will have to logon for you (not sure how this will be received  by the community) but it will communicate your credentials over a secure tunnel and it will not save any login information.

nueMinutes Update

by no2chem 30. December 2008 14:18

nueminutes Yeah, nueMinutes hasn’t been updated in a long time but I decided to fix parts of the code to deal with some of the changes the Sprint has made to their website. This is the last version that will be .NET, the next version will be written in native C++ that calls an intermediate server to do the processing. I haven’t touched the today plugin code in ages – from the looks of it might have a memory leak maybe, so I would avoid using it.

Of course, you can use nueMinutes data from any other application, it just needs to run nueMinutesDataBridge.exe to get data and save it to the registry.

Server-Side Bug in nueGPSSecurity

by no2chem 30. December 2008 11:05

There was a server side bug in nueGPSSecurity 1.2 that may have exposed location information for about 3-4 users that uses the “track” feature. It has since been fixed on the server. Remember, nueGPSSecurity only saves the last 5 minutes of recorded data when you use “track” (And soon enough, it will purge the data every 2 days).

nueROM Donator CP / Password Reset

by no2chem 25. December 2008 18:28

Approximately six users may have been affected with a bug in the donator CP that caused their passwords to be invalid. I upgraded the security on some parts of my system, and these users created accounts during the upgrade. If you are experiencing this problem, reset your password using the password reset form:

http://www.nuerom.com/nueDonate/forgot.aspx

The site no longer stores your password and uses a password hash + salt instead, so instead of being e-mailed back your password, you get a token to reset your password instead.

I also changed the “log in” link on the top of the site, I guess it was causing confusion for some as it logged users into my blog instead of the donator CP.

nueGPSSecurity v1.2

by no2chem 25. December 2008 16:52

I finished a new version of nueGPSSecurity tonight, with some new commands that I’ll describe below:

alarm : turns off vibrate/silent and plays alarm (a 2kHz tone played for about 300ms, followed by a 300ms pause)
alarmoff: turns off alarm enabled by “alarm” command
track: tracks your phone’s current position and uploads the position online.
stoptrack: stops uploading your position online.

Track uses a google maps+street view interface to display a visual of your phone location. You’ll need to be a donator to take advantage of the feature (again, due to server cost issues) and generate a token for your phone using the donator control panel (If you have an old token, you’ll have to generate a new one because this feature requires the new phone field). Once you’ve done that – login here: http://www.nuerom.com/nuedonate/gpslocator.aspx and select your phone to view its location. Note that the application currently only records the last 5 minutes of your location and only records if you’ve donated at least 5$.

Where’s that Titan Kitchen?!

by no2chem 19. December 2008 18:58

Well, the answer is short:

I got sidetracked working on porting phonecanvas and other stuff from the CDMA Raphael to the QVGA Titan. What does this mean?
-CDMA Diamond-Style PhoneCanvas (With working 911 and the works)
-VolumeControl and other stuff VGA exclusives working for Titan.

(hopefully getting ipsecvpn control panel working too, but dunno about that).

anyway, its a long and tedious proccess finding the values to replace, but hopefully the end product will be worth it. How does memory fare so far… well, not so well, (16.23 MB Low Memory Mode @ Boot / 22.41 MB High Memory Mode @ Boot), so I guess it’s usable in low memory mode and works like a regular rom in high memory mode minus camera. At least everything runs smoothly with Manila2D enabled.

so, stay tuned!

nueGPS Critical update

by no2chem 17. December 2008 02:18

A slightly embarrassing error: Version 1.1 of nueGPSSecurity has a bug when you send “getlink” that causes it to send lots of text messages (basically whenever your position changes…)
This is fixed in version 1.11. Sorry for any problems it might have caused.

nueGPSSecurity update

by no2chem 17. December 2008 01:09

Ok, I’ve updated nueGPSSecurity to v1.1 -

Changes are mainly the inclusion of 3 new commands:
quickpos : gets your position and turns gps off after
getlink: gets a link to google maps with the position of the phone
quicklink: gets a link to google maps with the position of the phone, turns gps off after.

Also, the “status” option is now fixed, it was broken due to a stupid mistake (i.e. being sleepy and not paying attention to scoping rules).

And yes, I am working on kitchen stuff – just let me finish testing it, nueROM-M and –S for the Titan is almost ready.

Ok – Work on kitchen so far

by no2chem 15. December 2008 21:47

Ok, the downloads should be working again. Currently I’m working on getting nueROM kitchen to the new buildOS spec, and I’ll be bringing the Titan builds up to spec first, followed by the Diamond and Touch Pro builds.

Downloads might be intermittent…

by no2chem 15. December 2008 15:16

I’m fixing up the download script right now, to prevent hot-linking and support mirroring, so if you are trying to download something, there is a chance it will be down in the next 30 minutes. Thanks for being patient.
