Thanks to MrObvious for pointing out that the latest Alltel ROM had this feature activated. It turns out that the feature has been in rilphone for awhile now, but hasn’t been activated. Anyway, you’ll need:
(1) Latest version of rilphone.dll
(the version provided is for cooking only, most newer roms should have a version that supports the indicator already).
(2) Radio that supports Rev.A
(3) A registry editor
(4) Override (optional)
Steps:
1 – Add this registry entry
[HKLM\System\OEM_STATE\RSSI]
”show_rev_A_icon”=dword:1
2-Restart Phone
If you are in a rev.A area, it should show “E” for EDGE. Why HTC picked this instead of the useless EVDV bitmask is beyond me. If you are fine with the “E”, you are done.
3-Apply Override (optional)
Copy the supplied override.dll to your phone in “\windows”, and add this registry entry:
[HKLM/Security/ResOver/Bitmaps]
”BaseDLL”=”Override.dll”
and restart the phone. In a rev.A area, you will now have a ugly (imo) “rA” indicator for rev.A. You can edit the dll if you want, just remember you need signing patched for it to work, or security disabled.
I should mention that nueRSSI will report “E” still, new version will report “Ev0” or “EvA”.

…about nueROM, I think I will have to release a patch release without new tools because a lot of people are having trouble with updated buildOS.
