I don’t delete comments

by no2chem 15. December 2008 13:38

Ok, I’m not sure who Kane3162 is, but s/he posted this comment below under the nueLight3 post:

”again... I really don't like this setup... (since it seems that nue doesn't like any comments that don't praise his work and removed my previous comment, really messed up, really not gonna donate again) seriously however... a switch on a touchscreen... nue i like most of your work but this and the comm manager... with switches... on a touchscreen... id be cool with it if it had like a huge switch and not some rounded looking switch (reminds me of an old switchboard)...”

I’d just like to point out that:

(1) I don’t delete comments. I simply don’t have the time, so unless your comment was a link to a phishing/scam site, I didn’t delete it. I know people are having problems posting comments, and am I’m going to update the blog software when I get a chance…

(2) Please stop using “I’m not going to donate”, “I’m not going to donate again” etc. as a threat – it’s really not going to encourage me to work on things. Besides, I think its rather offensive – I mean, here I am giving away software for free that I could easily charge for, asking only for donations- what you’re doing is basically like dropping five dollars into the salvation army donation bin, then deciding on changing your mind later…

I mean, I’ve gotten really offensive requests, and although I admit I haven’t been responding to e-mails and such lately, I’ve been getting things like requests for refunds etc…. Development is a lot of work, and often I end up doing a lot of work with no end product – that is, 6 hours of work leads to a dead end…

I’m not here to offend anyone, and I’m not here to steal your money. If you’re donating to me, you’re donating because you feel that I should continue working on what I’m working on, it is not a “bid” for me to work on X or Y, or a contract for me to release something by a date – donations, as grateful as I am for them, simply aren’t enough for contract work…. I am trying to work on a system that allows donators to “vote” on what they think is important (of course, with no guarantee that it’ll be implemented).

I have a lot of 1/2 finished projects that got pushed aside because I ended working on other things, so I am trying to get to polishing them to release status.

(3) Please don’t refer to me as “nue” but no2chem. Thanks.

(4) I just finished final exams, so expect some significant progress for the next 2-3 weeks. You’ve already seen the release of 2 new apps, the next stuff on my list includes finally fixing the kitchen and getting some old apps updated, so bear with me. thanks!

You've got a lot of true supporters, so don't let the jerks get to you, no2chem. We respect the massive amount of work you do, and the innovative concepts you continually release. We've seen you through amazing periods packed with clever new ROMs and tools, so a few slow periods are nothing.

People, if you're new to no2chem and don't know what to expect from his history, then don't bother donating. Only donate if you really know and respect the man you're supporting. And clearly if you think you're entitled to a refund, you don't understand the concept of a donation. If you really want a custom app created for your needs, I'd recommend contacting no2chem with a REAL proposal with a serious amount of money. $5, $10, $20 donations are not enough to sidetrack anybody from school or commitments to the people they're supporting. Get some real financial backing before you try to guide him off course, or shut up and let the rest of us reap the benefits of his meandering ways.

no2chem don't let jerks like that get you down, you are doing a great job keep up the great work. People like that need to realize you also have a life one of which is school (been there done that before. Everything I have seen from your posts and work tells me you are a person of integrity and a perfectionist.  I personally think your priorities are the correct ones and would rather see you take your time on these projects to get them right and come up with new ideas that is just the way innovation works.

Again thanks for all your great work keep it up and get some rest after finals.

I will fourth the sentiment of the other comments, there are a lot of us out here that really appreciate your work and who understand the difficulty that programing can be.  Not only is normal development in a known system with a known set of APIs difficult but when you are doing things that are not directly supported by the system in order to make it better for all of us there is no measure to the potential problems you will run into.  Keep up the good work but keep up your life first and foremost and don't let the stupid 11 year old trolls running around the internet with no skills and nothing better to do with there time offend you.

SWEET! an entire post for me!!!
so...
1) I posted 2 comments, the one before the one you copied is no longer here... its gone... and it was posted successfully when i posted it... so... GG BlogEngine.NET
2) I am sorry you took it as a threat, i merely was stating my disinterest in continuing to donate for a GUI i wont use and/or dont like (and really i never noticed your CommCPanel before so my first time to say WTF, i donated and would probably donate again for the ACTUAL no2Chem nueROM for the TITAN), but i like it as a threat better cause it gets you to make an entire blog post for me!
3) nue or no2chem, whatever! you are KNOWN by both (web/IRC/VChat) live with it or drop the nue OR EVEN BETTER add BY no2chem under the nuerom logo/name at the top (what a thought how come more dont to it... o wait they do)...
4) congratz hope you did well!, sorry you get sidetracked alot, for WinMO you are like Dino&WinXP/Vista (really would love to see a MobileLite app) and besides your new take on the GUI (and the switchboard switch's) I pretty much love everything you have done for the Platform!

(hindsight: Im 21, and a guy just a FYI - your right! the comment system pisses me off!, thus my angry rant, i tried 3 browsers the first time and finally got it to work in IE7 and then logged for a few hours, then when i came back it wasn't their anymore so again my rant was induced by my own anger at the crappy site/comment system, had you made a post before about how you KNEW it was buggy i probably wouldnt have made such an angry post, sorry MY BAD)

"...and besides your new take on the GUI (and the switchboard switch's)... "

Um, am I the only one going WTF here?
What new "switch" GUI are you talking about? The Manilla comm manager theme?
Because that's HTC, not no2chem.
They've been using that style UI for the latest generation of devices, and no2 was nice enough to pick that as a design for his nuelight app in order to stick with the theme of most of our devices. Additionally, he made it skinnable so that it can be tweaked and theme matched even more, for that perfectly integrated look.

In case you've been living under a rock (possible, if you've never seen this UI style before), each section is a giant button that you press with your finger. The "switch" is just an icon that tells you if its on or off. You don't actually slide the tiny switch, if that's what you were implying...
