Well…

by no2chem 12. February 2009 13:02

First off, I apologize for setting a deadline and not meeting it. I guess I expected that I would have a little more free time than I thought I would. I will rectify it in the future by avoiding announcing stuff until I’m done with it. I agree with the last few users who have commented; I am disappointed particularly at myself with not being able to produce anything in the last month.

Second, I think it’s clear that I’ve been off the radar for a while; but I finally got around to fixing my e-mail reply for nuerom.com. I just really don’t have as much time as I used to work on stuff… and I started too many projects so that any work I do on one ends up looking like not much… I guess we’ll just have to leave it at I’ll come out with something when I come out with something.

Last, I would like to point out one of several e-mails of the type I’ve been getting, which I will copy verbatim:

“Your piece of shit NueLED application won't uninstall by any means!
What the fuck were you thinking when you coded it, making it uninstallable and putting the reg into the ROM? I've been the last 3 hours trawling google to find a solution but no one has one, only to hard reset. Well fuck you for wasting my time.
LEARN TO CODE!”

See, I want to say that e-mails like this really discouraged me from coding for awhile. While its clear that whoever “robin” is (a) doesn’t know that making a cab doesn’t involve coding (b) the cab was not uninstallable (c) the registry goes in RAM, not ROM (d) probably didn’t stop the service…. It’s still quite disheartening to get these e-mails, and its not like they happen rarely either. It’s just that people .. I don’t know, are beginning to demand more things in a very violent manner…

Apparently, by observation of the IP address, he’s also had time to vote a 1 on the last few posts 3-4 times… regardless…

Hello no2chem
You can pretty much just ignore those emails, as it is not even worth spending those few seconds reading them. By the way, it seems like the comment system on this website isn't working properly. We MUST enter something for "Website" or it simply won't post. (for all those who gets stuck at "saving the comment," try putting anything in for "Website.")

I can completely understand the nature of taking on too many projects at once.  Just remember while people are freely able to donate to you, this isn't your job.  Sure it may be frustrating for us who log in daily (or multiple times a day) hoping for an update, but that's our problem not yours.  We are not entitled to hourly updates from you.  It would be nice to have a quick pop in saying "I'm still alive just busy" every week or so but even that would be a Gift to us, not a God given right.

It's hard when you put so much into a product (especially free ones) and get crap back from users like Robin.  Even with 1000 positive comments, that 1 negative one of that group really sticks in your mind.

Almost all of us appreciate your hard work and the things you put out.  I agree that a quick pop in just to say you are alive would be nice.  However, that is optional as its your time and you should spend it how you want.  The big complainers are free to develop their own app.

I'm ashamed to say that I am one of many that believe your work is great and do not tell you often enough.  It is hard to ignore the negative emails when they are harsh and agressive.  Remember, you are doing this out of your own goodwill.  Code for the people that appreciate your work.

PS, may I recommend getting someone to filter your mail for you?  Like most development shops, Helpdesk is seperate from development for this reason.  You need a buffer from the flames and BS.

no2chem,
Dont let losers like Robin get you down you do great work I being a programer have a very good idea of how hard the work you do is. I really do appreciate it thanks for it. Also even if Robin were paying you $1000 a week he has no business talking to you that way or anyone really; besides he probalby only contributed a $1. Well again keep up the great work and know there are a lot more like me that really appreciate your very hard work.

I completley understand the situation.  When people are satisfied they don't say anything.  Only the A**holes open their mouths.  This happens to me at work all the time; I don't hear from 99% of the people in the company.  But, if you listened to the other 1% you'd think I suck at my job.

I love you work, and I have donated/will donate whenever I have a little extra cash.  I hope these comments can help you forget the flame-mails and keep you doing what you do best.

hey man, don't let those ppl get you down.  first of all, if they didn't want to take a risk and understand they would have to do some work in the first place, they would have stuck with "official firmware" and not used someone's work then bitch about the fact that they know nothing themselves other than what they see on a tutorial.  i have used your roms a few times and quite enjoyed them.  only issue i have had is the fact my phone is on it's last leg (bad ROM chip possibly).  you "could" save all those email that ppl send you and let some bad spam company accidentally "hack" your computer getting access to those email addresses ;)  (i'm evil)  keep up the great work!  wish i knew 10% of what you do!

I echo the comments regarding "Robin"  - what a jerk - do you think he talks that way to his mother, spouse, boss, friend or even a perfect stranger?

I know you're very busy but I sure wish you would fix nueminutes so it properly displays on the Today screen - Is it a time consuming fix?

Jack

You made the greatest ROM ever for my P4000, changing it from a useless piece of crap to a handy useful reliable phone. Like many I don't speak much, as happy people have no  story to tell. Release what you feel is ready when you feel it's ready. You shall be judged by what you already provided, not what people expect you to release. And what you already delivered is fine state of the art software. It's not perfect, it's evolving. It's fine by me.

I concur with all the above statements. Take your time, enjoy what you do and ignore those that harp on what you do.  I'm waiting patiently for the next rom along with most people.  you could start posting offenders e-mails on your blog, that would keep the nasty e-mails down Smile

psshh, competition, lol yeah right... as for the switches Kane you were flaming no2chem for the use of them, but they mimick htc's stock software.  No2chem does not waste alot of time on graphic design, he makes great apps, and uses exsisting graphics to make them usable.  I prefer it this way, I can theme stuff myself, I would rather he concentrate on code rather than graphics

Danno... are you retarded... can you not read... lol

"my rant was a mis understanding (still hate the new style.. I like the 10 button from my titan alot better then the freeking switches...)"  I had been using a custom ROM for the Titan with the 10 button CommsManager and thought that (since it came from a newer model then the titan) was the newer stuff was... again... "misunderstanding"

anyway... no2chem... <3

You have given more to the ppc crew than most and the little punks that give you static are not worth the space they take up in the deleted folder. Chem, it was your instructions and your programs that kept me up many a night with my mogul. There is always the few that mess it up for everyone, and I am sure there is at least a hundred of us for each one of the punks that would be more than happy to slap them for ya!!
