More notes on overclocking

by no2chem 7. September 2009 19:39

Many people are reporting that their devices freeze when running the test. This is probably because you are running a GSM device.

Please be sure to note whether you are using a GSM or CDMA device when you leave feedback – I tested on a CDMA device (MSM7501A).

I’m trying to see if theres a way to get the mARM (radio) to lower the PLL.

note: I don’t know about other people, but I was able to run coreplayer benchmark, sktools benchmark, etc without crashing.

Hi,
Blackstone, EnergyROM 30.8.2009, with WinMo 6.5 and Manila 2.5.
With Manila running: blackstone freezes.
Without manila I can get 768Mhz, but I tried to run Igo 8 and blackstone freezes (after complete Igo loading). Solitaire works, but after while freezes Smile,

And I'm on battery

Topaz, Win 6.1, GSM device, MSM7200A.

Versions 1.2 and 1.3 freezes instantly.

Version 1.1 does not freeze but also does not overclock.

Version 1.0 after confirming disappears and mess system (not able to launch any app or use Manila).

My stock Sprint Touch Pro (without TouchFlo3D) - runs 1.3 great with no lockups so far.  My benchmark using TCPMP showed a playback speed of 136.5% vs an original playback speed of 106.5%.

Freezing immediately on a Sprint TP  - WM 6.5 - NSFFAN's ROM

Tried several times with the same results - the best I can get is about 2-3 seconds before it locks up on both AC and Battery.

Don't use fly mode, instead you should use the one just below. I don't know how it's said on english that option (I use it in spanish) but it's to completely disable the phone radio signal. I'm using winmo 6.5 too so it must work for you.

Also once you're running the overclock you can enable again the phone and it will still work fine, just disable it before overclocking

Funny, I followed xmfreak's advice, but was unable to overclock it on my X1. Is it because I have nueDynamicClock installed?

No, I updated from 1.2 to 1.3 and then it worked for me. Do you really have the last version? (v1.3)

And why do you say you were unable to overclock it? It doesn't do anything? It freezes? What happens when you try?

Running 6.5, build 21222 on a RAPH110 (MSM7201A)

It freezes when it "overclocks".  A soft-reset brings up the first boot splash screen and requires a hard-reset.  Last night, it required a ROM flash.

Back your stuff up before trying this!  But do try it.  The more feedback we can give no2chem, the better it will work in the future! Laughing

Verizon Touch Pro, running rom cooked in Scott's Simple Kitchen 1.5, build is 20954.

After installing and running the overclock tool, the change is very obvious. TCPMP correctly shows the increased clockspeed of the processor. SK tools benchmarks are significantly higher.

Then I opened Opera mini and went into Settings and the phone froze, requiring a soft reset.

This was on battery power. I may try again on AC power later today.

lol... I've been hours playing with this overclock, soft-reseting the phone, overclocking again... and now it doesn't work anymore. I may have used this software about 15-20 times today and now it freezes don't matter what I do. Anyways, it's a great tool, just hope all the issues (freezing, rebooting...) get solved on future.

Touch Diamond CDMA (DIAM500) here from Telus, running my custom ROM built on WM 6.5 build 23409, with most HTC enhancements built-in but not Manila. I can overclock without turning off the phone radio, and it seems pretty stable so far.

Good job. Can't wait until this becomes part of nueDynamicClock or something. Laughing
